Sleep and It's Irregularities

Since entering college there have been many things that I have made myself to adjust to: DC food, an increase in caffeine in-take, studying in a different environment, learning to share space (but I have siblings so I know what sharing is, but i do not ), and the pet peeves that will forever annoy me but never fully go away. They have yet to be tolerable but I'm not gonna really get into too much detail about that. The main adjustment that I've made is still in the works and I reckon will be until I have finished college.
Sleep is different in college. Forget trying to be in bed snoring at ten o' clock so you can get up at 6 for your 7:30AM class. There is no such thing as peace and quiet. Ten o'clock is when your floor mates come out to do homework, play water pong, announce "the cabs are here." In translation, "hurry up or your ass is gonna take the stairs." It's elven o'clock,  you still have people in your room. What could people be doing at eleven- close- to- twelve at night?
Oh the possibilities are endless. Being college of course there are people who are high, have the munchies, cramming twenty-forty pages of psychology information, laughing their heads off at the many YouTube videos of "fails," and the almighty Nerf War. Theses activities are better than hearing the sounds of the tropics, waves along a coast, even my iPod- whoa, possibly too far. When it comes to being at home for the break falling asleep to silence has become freakishly abnormal. Just the sound of music coming from the party diagonally from my house leaves me at ease to nod off. While I may not be falling asleep at nine thirty but I do nod off peacefully knowing the people just on the other side my door will always be there to help me sleep though the night- that and NyQuil.
